Meet Frenchy (French Onion)!
Frenchy is a 2-year-old female Chihuahua mix looking for a patient, understanding family who will give her the time she needs to build confidence and settle into her new life.
Frenchy is naturally shy around people and new situations. She prefers to watch from a safe spot, carefully observing everything around her. Currently she likes to be in her crate or in other small spaces where she feels protected. While she may be timid, she's also curious and enjoys exploring the yard and her surroundings when she feels comfortable and isn't being pressured.
One of Frenchy's most endearing qualities is how quiet she is. She's a calm little companion who rarely makes a peep and is happy to spend her time peacefully observing the world around her. She doesn't like to get too close to anyone yet, but there have been no issues with our elementary school aged kids and our small dog being in the same room as her.
Frenchy is house trained and does all her business outside in the yard like a pro. She's still learning about leashes and walks and isn't yet comfortable venturing out that way, so she'll need an adopter who is willing to let her progress at her own pace and celebrate the little victories along the way.
A cozy blanket and a safe place to relax are some of Frenchy's favorite things. Every day she shows small signs of bravery, and it's clear that with patience, kindness, and consistency, she'll continue to come out of her shell.
Frenchy's ideal home is one that understands shy dogs and won't expect her to become outgoing overnight. The reward for that patience is the chance to watch a fearful dog discover trust, confidence, and happiness for the first time.
