If you've been looking for a dog with personality, puppy antics, and enough enthusiasm to power a small city... allow us to introduce Tiny Tornado Tabitha.
At just 11 months old, Tabs is technically almost grown up... but life had other plans.
After being rescued from a heartbreaking situation, Tabs, her sister Tellulah, and another sibling were finally given a chance at a better life. Tragically, one sibling didn't survive before help arrived. Both girls now carry visible scars from their past, but they're slowly learning that the world can be a safe place. And they're having fun discovering it all!
Because of everything she missed early in life, Tabs is developmentally much more like a 5 month old puppy. She's making up for lost time - and she's making up for it enthusiastically. She has the energy level of a tiny tornado. She puts everything in her mouth, thinks every dog should play as hard as she does, and is still figuring out that not everyone appreciates surprise wrestling matches. Especially since she is 45lbs of pure muscle.
But here's the beautiful part...
None of this is who she is. It's simply what she hasn't had the chance to learn yet.
Tabs is working incredibly hard on potty training and is already making wonderful progress. She sleeps through the night (unless she genuinely needs to go outside), and every day she becomes a little more confident and a little more comfortable in her new world.
Don't expect booming bully barks from this girl. Tabs' "bark" is barely loud enough to count as one. Instead, she communicates with the cutest little awoos that sound like an old smoker who misplaced her bark. It's impossible not to smile when she starts talking.
Like many dogs adjusting after kennel life, Tabs is working through some separation anxiety. She's currently on temporary medication to help with the transition and is already showing signs that she may be ready to wean off. Having another confident, well-balanced dog in the home would likely be a huge benefit, giving her both companionship and a furry teacher to show her the ropes - also, a built-in play buddy!
Tabs isn't much of a snuggler... yet. She's simply too busy discovering that toys are fun, life is exciting, and humans can be trusted. We have a feeling the cuddles may come when she's ready, and they'll be well worth the wait.
She also has a chicken allergy, so she'll need a chicken-free diet. She's moderately food motivated - especially if you've discovered the treat she deems worthy of her attention.
If you're looking for a perfectly polished dog, Tabs probably isn't your girl. But if you're looking for a dog whose greatest chapters are still waiting to be written... she's your gal! And we suspect she'll leave your life better than before.
