Ronie

Adopted

Description

Male, 3 years, chihuahua X

Hello, my name is Ronnie!

Even though I may have been through a lot in my past, I barely show it - I am a very happy dog! I love being near you, especially if it means I get nice long naps with intermittent petting.

You’ll notice that I only have one eye - it means I constantly get to wink at you! It doesn’t affect me much - I just like to move in circles sometimes, and I love to have you on my right side when walking so I know you are near.

I am house-trained (who goes in the house??) and I enjoy being on my leash! It's chilly here in Canada but I’m doing my best! I can handle most things - the snow is weird though, I would prefer to stay inside if I can when its windy and snowy. I will probably need to be trained to wear little boots but I haven’t had to try just yet.

I do tend to bark at other dogs on walks at random. When my foster parents tell me to stop I normally do - this could be something fun we work on together to get me more comfortable around other dogs! I haven’t been around another dog in a social setting just yet.

I am not a picky eater! Though I have a strange habit of taking my food and eating it elsewhere, like on foster moms yoga mat!

I am not in love with my crate but once I settle down in there, it's perfectly fine to sleep in overnight. I only slept in it for two nights before I got to sleep in my own bed beside my foster mom and dad! They were happy to discover that I can sleep the entire night without crying or making much noise at all!

I absolutely love the car! My foster parents just strap my bed into the seatbelt (it has a collar buckle on it too) and I just nap the entire time. I’m not really interested in looking out the window - I love my bed too much! It’s especially fun when the sun beams through the windows and I get a little sun-bathing session in.

My coat is quite dry and flaky these days because of the dry climate but my foster parents have been feeding me Omegas with some coconut oil and occasionally put a steamer in my sleeping space to add some humidity to the air!

I am okay to stay off the furniture, I just need to know whether I’m allowed on it or not. I’ll occasionally jump on the sides of the couch for some pets and scratches but my foster parents love that!
I make a very cute little noise when I yawn - I’m sure you’ll love it! Other than that, I barely make noises aside from the occasional quiet growl when there’s a noise in the hallway (even then, it doesn’t last long and it’s very quiet).

I haven’t met any cats or small children yet, but even if I don’t love them I’m quick to learn so my foster mom thinks it would probably be an easy fix! She’s taught me that I only get treats and food if I’m sitting on my bum first - weird, but I’ll sit if it means I get tasty treats!

Ronie is being fostered in Calgary.
