Lonesome

Adopted

Description

Male, 6 years, pit bull X

Hi, my name is Lonesome and I’m looking for my furever home. My foster people say I am the perfect guest. I always do my business outside, I sleep in my crate every night with no complaints and I rarely bark, can you believe that! I’ve been left alone out of my crate for a few hours during the day and I’m usually found on the couch sleeping. When my foster people are home I follow them everywhere as I suffer from FOMO, fear of missing out. Especially with treats and I love to snuggle with them on the couch while we watch TV together. I do love attention and cuddles. I’ve already learned so many more manners and I’m working on leash walking which I have already gotten so much better at and don’t pull so much. When we see another dog my foster mum says my name and I know to sit and she gives me a treat and then I forget all about the other dog and we carry on walking. My other new trick is sitting and waiting until my foster mum tells me I can eat, this was so hard as I’m very food motivated so waiting until I got the go ahead to eat felt like a lifetime, but now I’m used to it. I also take treats very gently for such a big guy, I’m just a big softie really. I’m great walking out and about in the neighbourhood, I’ve met some of the neighbours and of course, everyone loves me, did I say how handsome I am? I get so many comments on my good looks. The one thing I am having a hard time with is not chasing squirrels, I love squirrels! I guess it’s in my DNA, but I’m learning to redirect my attention with treat rewards and now I’m sometimes quite content just watching them knowing I will get a treat. I’ve been on all sorts of adventures. I got a pedicure at the local doggie salon and the lady said I was so calm and gentle and I went to doggie day care for an afternoon where I met some cool dogs and played nicely with them. I’ve been on several car rides where I knew to jump in the back of the car and I was left in the car for several minutes alone. Apparently my foster mum was watching from a distance and she said I sat calmly in the back and didn’t chew anything or bark at people that came close to the car. I have also been left outside on a long leash for short periods and I haven’t barked. I haven’t met any cats while I’ve been staying with my foster people, but I have met other dogs on our walks and was fine as long as they were not aggressive toward me. My tail wags when we see children but I haven’t met any up close yet. I like going for walks but I’m not a speedster, I’m also quite happy at home playing with my chew toys and hanging with my foster people. I really am a most marvelous doggie and I hear my foster people say all the time they wish they could keep me but they're in the business of fostering and not adopting as they travel a lot and can’t bring a dog with them. So, if you think you would like a big, loveable doggie like me, then let’s meet!
