Meet Smarty Jones, AKA Dolly!
Dolly is a 2-year-old, 13 lb little sweetheart who is still very much a puppy at heart. Her favorite place in the world is wherever her person is. She bonds closely with her people and will happily follow you from room to room, curl up beside you for a cuddle, or roll over for one of her favorite things… belly rubs. She loves giving (and receiving) face kisses and is an incredibly affectionate little girl.
Dolly is playful, very smart, and eager to be involved in whatever you’re doing. Once she chooses you as her person, you can expect to have a very loyal little shadow. She is crate trained and sleeps wonderfully in her crate after a minute or two protesting that she’d rather be with you. Given the choice though, Dolly would definitely prefer sleeping cuddled up with her person.
Dolly is still very much a puppy. She is curious, loyal, and protective. Her perfect person or family needs to be kind, but firm and committed. Proper professional or dedicated personal behavioral training will undoubtedly create a stress-free bond of trust and loyalty that she didn’t have in her early life. She is a clean slate when it comes to training, but again, is very smart. In the short time we’ve spent with her, she has picked up on her name and is starting to recognize a few simple commands.
She is little and light, but requires a firm grip on walks, until she is fully trained on the leash. With intervention she is slowly starting to adapt to a neighborhood full of outdoor animals, but is still very reactive and vocal to other dogs, cats, rabbits etc. That said, Dolly has been living with another dog here in her foster home, and over a short time has adapted pretty well. There are still some things she’s learning when it comes to sharing her space. She can be territorial and marked a few areas early on where the resident dog spends a lot of time.
She is cautiously social with the resident dog but would likely be happiest as the only pet in the home where she can soak up all the attention. Because she’s young, smart and sweet, we also think she has lots of potential to continue improving with training and could potentially adapt to the right canine companion with patient, proper introductions.
More than anything, Dolly wants a person of her own. She’s happiest simply being by your side, and for someone looking for an affectionate, playful little companion who will absolutely adore them, Dolly has so much love to give
