Meet Nelson! He is a very sweet boy who loves affection. He’s a bright, curious young pup with so much potential! He’s making great progress with house training. By following a consistent potty schedule and taking him to the same spot in the yard, he’s gone several days without an accident.
He’s an energetic pup who is still learning how to manage his excitement, especially around children. In our home with 5- and 8-year-olds, he can become overstimulated quickly and may mouth, nip, or attempt to mount when he gets too excited. We’ve found that he does best with shorter play sessions, plenty of chew and tug toys, and scheduled downtime to help him reset. As he’s still learning to manage his energy and play gently, he would benefit from a patient home that can provide structure, supervision, and consistent guidance.
His crate training is going well, and he settles beautifully in his crate for naps! At night, he sleeps happily in his crate for 8–9 hours without a potty break. Nelson is also crated when left home alone, as he’s still learning what is and isn’t appropriate to chew. He’s usually content to relax in his crate for several hours during the day and has shown no clear signs of separation anxiety. He has occasionally protested and barked at first, but with continued consistency, he’ll keep building good habits
Nelson would likely thrive in a home with older, calm children who can respect his space and follow guidance around safe interactions. A confident owner who understands the energy and behaviours of an adolescent puppy would be a great match for him! He already knows “sit,” comes when called, and is learning “down” and “place.” He’s still working on “leave it,” as he loves investigating the world with his mouth and will pick up things like sticks and garbage. Car rides are currently a little nerve-wracking for him, but with patient encouragement and gradual exposure, he has plenty of opportunity to become a more confident travel buddy.
If you're looking for some big puppy energy, an even bigger heart, Nelson might be the perfect pup for you!
