Male, 2 years, pit bull X, 56 lbs
Pongo is a BIG GOOF. He is sweet and calm but also full of energy. He loves chews and toys so much he can hardly contain himself.
Pongo has been tested with other dogs, big and small, cats, and random strangers on walks. We have not tested him with small children but mostly because he is a big boy and does not understand how to be gentle with littles. Pongo is fully housetrained and has not had a single accident. Pongo does great in the kennel aside from a bit of barking/crying for a few minutes after he is put in there. Pongo is great on walks other than a small amount of pulling.
Pongo is possessive of his toys and food around other dogs. He is ok with humans taking food or toys from him but will growl and snap when other dogs come near. His behaviour is mild and with some correction on this issue he should be fine. Part of the reason we think he exhibits this behaviour is because he spent some time having to fend for himself. The first few days we had him, anytime spent outside of his kennel was spent searching for food in our house. He is a counter-surfer but that seems to have let up recently since he has been fed regular meals. He is still on the skinny side and needs to put on a few pounds.
Overall, Pongo is a very good dog who just needs a little bit of work on his manners. We think he will make an amazing loving dog for someone.
Pongo is being fostered in Calgary.
