Gordo

Adopted

Description

Male, 8 months, hound X, 80 lbs

Hi!

My name is Gordo, but my foster family thinks I should be called Lotso because I’ve got lots-o love, lots-o personality, and lots-o energy!

I’m still just a pup but my family says I’m a pretty smart boy. I was a bit of an escape artist when I first arrived and an open door or gate just looks like a big invitation out into the world, but we’re working on that. I know I’m safe and loved here so I don’t go to far.

I have 2 fur siblings. They’re not very exciting so I overwhelm them a little bit sometimes but I have learned a lot from them about how to be a dog and what boundaries are. My foster family thinks I should be in a furever family with another buddy my size or bigger that knows how to dog and will play with me a lot. Smaller guys are okay but I can be a little much for them. It’s cool if I’m an only dog though, but I’ll need lots of dog friends! Probably no cats. I think I might be toooooo much for them but I’ve never actually met one.

I’m still figuring out what’s up with the world. New places and people make me a little scared and I want to get away and hide but it doesn’t take too long to warm up to them.

I get REALLY excited to see other doggos too! I just want to be everyone’s friend and talk to them but apparently I’m not very polite about it. Mom and Dad say not everyone wants to be friends with me, but I don’t understand why! I’m the greatest.

Don’t worry, I’m not all springs and bounces! I love sleeping in my crate at night and when the family is away or snuggling with you on the couch, or sleeping by the warm oven when your cooking. Mom says I need to stop doing that though, something about danger. 🤷‍♀‍

There are also 2 human siblings for me here. I LOVE to play with them but the littler one keeps falling down when I’m around. He’s the same size as me so I think he’s the perfect playmate, but Mom and Dad say he doesn’t like to play like that. I guess I better live with older kids at my new home. I wouldn’t want to hurt someone by accident.

Walks are cool. They’d be a lot cooler if I didn’t have to wear a leash. My people put a gentle leader on me though and I stick close now. I love exploring big areas like Nose Hill and pathways.

An active house would be great for me. It takes a lot to tucker me out. I need a big fenced yard to run and play in too.

I have my quirks and I’m not perfect...yet! But with the right family I know I can be the best dog ever. I mean, just look at my face!

Gordo is being fostered in Calgary.
