Siara

Adopted

Description

Female, 6 years, pit bull X, 70 lbs

Siara was born into a shelter in Texas and has just turned 6 in her first ever home as she is looking for her person(s). Siara is timid and although initially scared of every sound, she is learning that the world is less scary. When she’s scared she cowers and looks to go to a safe place. Siara likes people and although shy to start, she will quickly come along and connect, in no time at all she is leaning on your legs. Siara’s best home would have dog friends, but no cats or pocket pets as Siara has a prey drive. Siara loves to be around other dogs and is definitely not an alpha dog. She has learned from the foster mom’s other dog that bones are yummy and has just started playing with a toy. Siara is not treat motivated and only eats when things are quiet and calm. Siara responds well to routine. Siara is house trained and in some times and places a very good snuggler. Siara will bark when someone is on the sidewalk or coming up to the door. She is almost done learning that her human only needs 1 alert bark. With the pandemic she hasn’t had the same exposure to people, sounds, car rides, wind, and life but there is no doubt she is interested. Siara does go on drives in town and she relaxes as the time goes by. Siara is crate trained but her foster mom lets her sleep on the bed with the other dog. Overall, this quiet girl is still getting used to her new circumstances and it may take some more time for her to realize that she is safe and cared for. She is looking for a new home who will take their time with her and allow her to come out of her shell in her own time.

Siara is being fostered in Red Deer.
