This little firecracker is full of life! His little tail goes a mile a minute when he's excited and displays many typical traits for a rat terrier. He is wary of new people and things but once he has time to warm up to you, he is the biggest mooch for cuddles and pets, especially if you allow him on your lap. PePe sleeps through the night, stands by the door to be let out for potty break and is a quick learner. PePe had only one accident in the house on the first day and hasn't chewed anything inappropriate. He walks well on the leash, but doesn't like to put on his harness or coat. He has some separation anxiety, gets stressed in the car and is still learning how to meet other dogs.

PePe sleeps in his crate at night, although he'd prefer to sleep on someone's bed. He is placed in the crate when home alone and will go in it on his own, particularly when he wants some down time, but prefers to hang out on his bed.

It's not a surprise that PePe doesn't like the cold as he is from Texas. He is learning that he has to tolerate it for his walks and bathroom breaks. Once the weather is nice, he'll love to go on long walks, as he doesn't sniff around much. PePe loves his people. He has a gentle howl, like a husky but soft, that he lets out when his person is gone but rarely barks. He is motivated by praise and encouragement, not treats, since he's not a big eater in general.

PePe's biggest challenge is he is quite insecure. Consequently, PePe should be the only animal in his furever home and children need to be 10+ to respect his boundaries and identify his body language. He growls when he's unsure and will nip if he feels threatened. However, with a confident leader, lots of love and patience, he becomes a happy, affectionate puddle. PePe is a smart pup, learning the house rules quickly but knows how to melt hearts to get more scratchies or up on the couch.

His ideal home will have someone home most of the time, have no other pets, only older children and will spend lots of time slowly exposing him to the world while showering him with loads of praise. In return, he'll give hugs and kisses, his loyalty and love plus constant butt wiggles to make you smile.
