Jeksitus

Adopted

Description

Female, 3 years, shepherd X, 33 lbs

The traffic on the roads of Phuket Island is congested and extremely busy. The dogs that live on the streets are in constant danger of being hit as they fight for survival, darting through the cars, avoiding the scooters and trucks. Jeksitus managed to avoid this danger for almost the first three years of her life but one day her luck ran out. A kind man found her in the middle of the road, unable to walk with a laceration wound on the side of her face. He alerted Soi Dog Foundation to her plight and she was brought to the shelter for treatment. She recovered from her injuries and has blossomed into a gentle, sweet little girl who gets excited to see visitors to her run. One of her favourite things is to go for walks as she is stressed in the crowded runs and relishes the quieter time outside as well as the quality time she spends with volunteers and staff. Jeksitus is looking forward to her new beginning in Canada and can’t wait to meet her forever family.

SHELTER ASSESSMENT: The first time she saw me, she was waiting at the exit door. When I went in, she was excited and jumped at me. She's cute and playful. Then when other dogs came to play with me, she stayed away and didn't approach me. When I approached her, she was friendly to me. When touched, she likes to nibble on my hand lightly. She is irritable with other dogs and likes to threaten her run-mates (growling, snapping). She doesn't like them messing with her, but the staff said that she only threatened her friends, never bit seriously. Can easily put on a leash. She was excited and wanted to go out. When outside at first, in the area near J run she surveyed confidently. (Body relaxed, mouth open, tail up and wagging, ears up). She could walk in all areas, but there were still some areas that she was unsure of. If the area was noisy, she would get nervous and would stop walking sometimes, tail down. But when called, she can follow. She appears shy and gentle outside but is cute and friendly to people. (Body soft, mouth open, ears back, eyes soft, tail low and wagging slightly). With other dogs she was interested in the dogs passing by, but she wasn't aggressive. She was able to walk past other dogs but was a little unsure. Off-lead she confidently walked around and looked around. She isn't interested in toys and doesn't play. When I called, she approached. She is gentle and cute. We were in the off-lead for about 2 minutes, then she was standing at the exit door. The leash can be easily put on and removed.

Once the dog arrives in care, they will go into foster care for 1 week so we can get to know their personalities better. After the first week, we will post their adoption biographies and review adoption applications or announce that the foster provider has adopted them.
At that time, if you would like to be considered in the event they are accepting applications, please fill out an adoption application.

This dog will be arriving from Thailand, date TBD.

Adoption costs: $650.00
