Mirabelle loves getting affection from people, and before becoming a foster here at Paw Butler she was introduced to many people of all ages with no issues.

She also loves to play fetch! She isn’t yet sure what hearing her name means though, so working with a ball first and rewarding her for coming back each time might help her learn recall. She is good at walking on leash as well and does not pull.

Now that she knows she is safe at Paw Butler, she is happy in whatever area she has been assigned and will happily stay in her space without trying to jump over gates or obstacles. It might take some time and patience for her to get to this comfort level in her new home – she barked a lot when she first came to stay with us, which is understandable considering the life she came from.
Mirabelle also shows some anxiety when left alone in a kennel – there were no confined spaces where she came from and it can be scary to be left alone for longer periods of time. She did not get to play with toys before being rescued either, so she isn’t really sure what to do with them and sometimes destroys them – tough toys will be a welcome addition in her forever home.

Mirabelle comes from a very scary place where interactions with other dogs often led to trauma and possibly injury. She is still learning that when other dogs get excited it does not mean that they want to hurt her; we have introduced a muzzle to her for play at the park to keep everyone safe. Dog parks in general might not be ideal for her once she has found her forever home. Puppy energy can also be overwhelming for many dogs, and Mirabelle is no exception.

She would do best in a quiet home with no small animals (including small dogs) and lots of patience and understanding for her as she adjusts to her new life. She will require training and love, but she has the potential to be a really sweet and affectionate dog to the person who is willing to give her a chance!
