Smokie is a large breed that likes to push his weight around and will need a strong leader who can provide ongoing training.

He has shown no signs of aggression, being good with most dogs however, he can be selective and has been known to challenge certain males.

Smokie would do best on a large property, an acreage or with a highly active guardian looking for a daily running buddy.

Smokie used to live on a chain and now that he’s been rescued from that restrictive life, he can be higher energy. He will require plenty of mental and physical stimulation. Smokie will require leash training and due to him living outdoors, he may require house-training.

Smokie likes his freedom and will try to climb fences; he should not be left unattended when outdoors. Although Smokie is larger and is heavy he has escaped his current property and came to the door.

We do not recommend a home with kids, cats or other small animals including small dogs. He should be confined to his crate when home alone to prevent any boredom trouble.
